Romanian Internet Technologies Event gathers global experts to analyse Internet transformations

The National Association of Internet Service Providers in Romania, with the support of the Internet Society, is organising on Tuesday the third edition of the Romanian Internet Technologies Event (RITE).

According to the organisers, RITE 2025 will explore Internet developments driven by decentralisation, security and traffic content, hosting an open dialogue among producers, service providers, researchers and users about how these technologies can coexist, collaborate and evolve in a way that upholds the fundamental principles of an open Internet, told Agerpres.

‘Internet technologies are today the most important vehicle for the digital economy. Current trends indicate accelerated changes in the business environment, as the traditional economy transforms into an online economy. This process is irreversible. Market actors, including ISPs (Internet Service Providers), CDNs (Content Delivery Network – global networks of servers dedicated to delivering content), and IEXs (operators managing Internet Exchanges between ISPs), ensure user access to today’s increasingly complex Internet. These actors are influenced by factors such as: the future of Internet infrastructure, access security, content distribution to users, data privacy and compatibility, access monetization, edge computing, live streaming, access to global data, sustainability of business models, and the impact of emerging technologies,’ the organisers point out in a press release.

RITE 2025 will be opened by Adrian Popa, President of ANISP and Technical Director at Euroweb Romania, and Alexandru Rotaru, Vice President of ISOC Romania Chapter. Prof. Adina Florea will speak about ‘The Latest Developments in AI & the HRIA Project,’ while Mirjan Kuhne, RIPE Chair, will provide updates from the RIPE community. Tony Kay (Senior Principal Architect at Red Hat) returns to RITE with a new keynote presentation dedicated to the profound transformations produced by artificial intelligence in just one year.

The first plenary session will feature George Sadowsky, a pioneer in Internet technology and communication policy, with over five decades of experience using IT for economic, social, and development policies. His presentation, ‘Where Did We Start? Where Are We Heading?’ will reflect on how the Internet’s social and technological role has evolved over recent decades.

The other three plenary sessions at RITE 2025 will focus on the relationship between users, artificial intelligence, and online security. The session dedicated to users will address new AI regulations and their influence on digital rights, through a presentation by Iurie Cojocaru (NNDKP).

In the third session, Ovidiu Pismac (Microsoft) and Silviu Teodoru together with Cristian Popescu (Oracle) will analyse how AI contributes to protecting and optimising IT systems.

RITE 2025 will conclude with a session dedicated to network security. Bertram Dorn (AWS), Virgil Truica (ISOC Romania) and Jackson Sippe will discuss topics such as data privacy, DDoS attacks and new protection methods in modern networks.

The RITE 2025 agenda also includes a roundtable with representatives of Romanian telecommunications service providers on the topic ‘How Can the Internet Remain an Open, Secure, Evolving and Accessible Resource for Everyone Today?’ The discussions will cover domestic and international regulations and their influence on Internet architecture and operation, user rights protection, and issues related to security and resource ownership.

ANISP (The National Association of Internet Service Providers in Romania) is the first and most representative non-governmental organisation in the Internet & electronic communications sector. Established on January 31, 2001, by 12 of the most important ISPs at the time, ANISP has been involved throughout the evolution of the Internet & electronic communications sector in Romania, participating in consultations organised by ministries, agencies and other government bodies with regulatory responsibilities, as well as operating Romania’s first Internet Exchange node, RoNIX.
